iOS 5 Release Date – Mobile security company Lookout has released Lookout Mobile Security for the iPhone, a dedicated safety protection application for iPhones and iPads via a new, free iOS app launching Tuesday.

According to Tech Crunch, Lookout designers zeroed in on a single, simple app to keep iPhone users safe. Developers started the development process by addressing current security risks facing iPhone users.

In a survey conducted by the security company, 93 percent of iPhone users said they have concerns about the security of the data stored in their phones. The survey also found that four out of every 10 iPhone users are unsure about the security of public WiFi and more than a third of users don’t regularly sync their devices.

Lookout’s new app addresses the safety issues for iPhone users. The mobile app includes a missing device feature as well as the option to use Lookout to help locate a user’s lost or stolen phone on a map or sound a loud alarm to find it nearby. The app explicitly instructs users through the necessary steps to secure their Apple devices.

With the addition of the iOS app, users can manage multiple devices from a dashboard on Lookout’s site including their iPad, iPhone and even Android phone or tablet.

However, one feature that is noticeably missing from Lookout’s iOS app is malware protection. Lookout previously launched a new mobile browsing application that automatically checks every website a user visits from an app, e-mail, or browser on a mobile phone to prevent phishing sites from stealing personal data and malware from being installed on a device.

According to Lookout, malware has not been an issue with iOS in the past so that’s why developers excluded it from the functionality of their new app.

Powered by Lookout’s Mobile Threat Network, which analyzes global threat data, Lookout seeks to protect a user before they are aware a threat of security exists.

Tech Crunch predicts that Lookout’s user base will expand with the iOS edition. Currently, Lookout has 12 million users and offers security services for a number of smartphone platforms including Android, Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry.

Apple CEO Tim Cook will take to a stage Oct. 4 to introduce the new iPhone.

That information comes courtesy of AllThingsD, which relied on unnamed “sources close to the information” for the exact date. For some time, rumors have circulated that Apple plans to unveil the device—popularly dubbed the “iPhone 5”—in October.

There are also a number of publications, including The Next Web, reporting that former vice president Al Gore, a member of Apple’s board of directors, told a conference audience that “new iPhones are coming out next month.”

Gore’s comments dovetail with still another rumor that Apple plans on releasing a line of lower-cost iPhones to complement the iPhone 5, with an eye toward combating midmarket Android devices.

Rumors suggest that the iPhone 5 will offer an 8-megapixel camera and an A5 dual-core processor, along with some deviation from the design template established by the iPhone 4. A Sept. 15 article in The New York Times supported those assertions, while offering that the iPhone 5’s unveiling is “just weeks away.”

The new iPhone could also make an appearance on Sprint in the United States. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster has estimated that giving Sprint the iPhone would boost the device’s overall sales by 6 million units. A Sprint iPhone would also leave T-Mobile as the only U.S. carrier without an Apple phone in its device portfolio, although the latter’s parent company, Deutsche Telekom AG, has offered the iPhone for years in Germany (and is allowing customers to preorder the iPhone 5, although without any mention of a release date or device specs).

Apple’s iPhone 5 won’t be offered on T-Mobile this year, according to a leaked internal document purportedly from the carrier’s chief marketing officer.

“We are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year,” CMO Cole Brodman is quoted as saying in a transcript of a company town hall meeting, itself reported on the blog TmoNews (which bills itself as “The Unofficial T-Mobile Blog”). The posting was quickly picked up by other blogs, including the Apple-centric 9to5Mac.

If T-Mobile ends up acquired by AT&T, its customers could inherit the ability to purchase the iPhone—but federal regulators seem intent on denying that acquisition. That would leave T-Mobile with the sole option of negotiating directly with Apple to carry the iPhone, a deal that would almost certainly evolve on Apple’s terms.

Titles for the Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and XBox 260 will be available for $2 a day.

According to a press release from Redbox, new game titles such as L.A. Noire, Brink, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Duke Nukem Forever, inFamous 2, Just Dance 2 and Red Faction: Armageddon will be available for rental.

“Historically, video game products have not been available at grocery stores, drugstores or convenience stores,” said Joel Resnik, vice president of games at Redbox, in that statement when the service was announced in April. “We make it very convenient by having our kiosks in front of the places people are at every day.”

Players will also be able to search for titles at specific kiosks and reserve games on Redbox’s website. Each of the kiosks will carry anywhere from 22 to 28 different titles, though the company has not announced what the rotation schedule will be as new titles arrive.

Redbox rose to prominence by offering DVD rentals at autonomous kiosks in grocery stores, convenience stores and drugstores nationally at a low fee. Along with Netflix, they have been largely cited as one of the competitors responsible for putting a massive dent in Blockbuster’s profit, forcing the closing of many of the video and game rental chain’s stores and its eventual filing for bankruptcy.

This service comes at an excellent time for RedBox, who has seen its profits for this quarter fall two percent from the previous year. Many blame the fact that newly released titles are often carried at stores and on cable channels 28 days before they’re available at RedBox kiosks.

Google Docs has been around for a while, and most people seem to really love it. I’ve always wondered why we didn’t have a dedicated app for Android for Google Docs, but worry no more. It is now here and available in the Android Market already. It is pretty awesome if I don’t say so myself.

For anyone that has used docs they know how convenient and easy to use it is, that has always been one of the strong aspects of it, not to mention it being portable as can be. Now you can create, edit, upload and share your docs from your phone with the Google Docs app. Sure sounds nice huh?

Some are even saying the app has better account switching than what is currently available in Chrome. That is good news, to see great features being used so easily in the mobile app. I can’t wait to try this out on my Motorola Xoom. Oh and for those that might need this feature, you can take a photo of a document right inside the Google Docs app and make it a document, easy as can be with no 3rd party apps or things needed. It took a while to get here, and now we know why. Google did their best to make sure it was as smooth as the regular version, and they delivered.

The HTC Desire has quickly become a firm favourite amongst serious smartphone users; it brought together everything that functional about previous attempts, as well as still managing to look amazing and offer incredible customisation. As ever, technology marches onwards and the HTC Desire S has been brought in to supersede its amazingly popular cousin.

The good news is that at face value the HTC Desire and the HTC Desire S are virtually indistinguishable; they both have a 3.7-inch 480 x 800 screen, which features an Android operating system overlaid with HTC’s Sense UI. There is a 1GHz processor running operations, which is capable of handling any task that can be thrown its way (although it is still only a single-core processor, which puts it at a disadvantage to competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy S). Notable changes to the handset are its new premium aluminium uni-body shell, an increase of RAM for the upgraded Android 2.3 OS and a massive 1GB of built-in memory available. Pretty much every single aspect of the HTC Desire S has undergone some, albeit slight, improvement on the original handset; there is an improvement in video recording (though the camera still has a five megapixel sensor), wireless capabilities and battery life – certainly enough on offer to leave users of the handset feeling like they have actually been given an upgrade, instead of simply being fobbed off with a new name and not much else.

Some users have found issues with the Wi-Fi antenna, as well as a slow notifications bar. The Desire S has also been criticised for the specs it offers for its price point; despite this, customers who are looking for an incredibly designed handset, which is quick, slick and works well at whatever task you send its way, could do a lot worse than to pick themselves up a HTC Desire S. For great pay as you go and contract phones visit http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/ today, dialaphone have a fantastic range of all the latest mobiles on the market
