Notebook Sales Increasing
Jul 17th
According to Gartner, during the second quarter of 2010, the market has distributed 82.9 million computers worldwide, an increase of 20.7% over one year. These figures exceed the forecasts of analysts who predicted a growth of 19.3%. Mikako Kitagawa, principal analyst at Gartner, explains that this is the third consecutive quarter to record a progression in double digits. Consumers spent about 13% more in the second quarter of 2010, while average prices continue to decline.
This decrease is however much lower than that recorded in the last two years. Another key to remember is undoubtedly the period of crisis that is characterized the field of netbooks. Although the sector has significantly increased sales by 70% over the last two quarters, the increase in shipments of netbooks is limited to 20% last quarter. As for companies, Hewlett-Packard confirms his (no surprise) a world leader in the PC market with 17.4% market share and 14.455 million units sold.
