Verizon has just made it official: the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX is going to hit store shelves this week. As its name suggests, this is going to be an alternate version of the Droid RAZR with a battery almost double the size.

Droid RAZR MAXXIts 3300mAh battery is rated at 21 hours of talk time, 7 hours or web surfing, 15 hours of video, or 60 hours of listening to music. Despite its larger battery, the RAZR MAXX is still going to be quite thin — just 9 mm.

The device was unveiled at CES a few weeks ago, at which time its price was revealed: $300 with a new two-year customer agreement. It is now known that this Motorola smartphone is going to launch on Thursday, January 26.

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX Overview
This handset is going to debut running Android OS 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) but an upgrade to OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is coming later. At its heart is a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with with 32GB of total memory (16GB built in, 16GB microSD card).

The MAXX will sport an 8MP rear-facing camera and Verizon’s 4G LTE, plus 3G EV-DO. The smartphone will also have a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and more.

With a 5.3-inch screen, this device is half tab, half phone- just the way Samsung wants it. It follows in the footsteps of Dell’s noble attempt at a 5-inch Streak device, but steps up the specifications to a new level.

Unlike Dell’s Streak, the Samsung Galaxy Note is not a chubby gadget. It’s slim and slender just like its little brother, the Samsung Galaxy S II. At 12 millimeters thick, it’s pushing only a few more millimeters than its counterpart. Still, this thing’s big. It’s sporting a broad 5.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD screen at a WXGA (1280 x 800) resolution. More after the break.

Interestingly, Samsung decided the extra screen real estate would go nicely with a retrofitted capacitive stylus. Aside from HTC’s Flyer, this’ll be the first major Android device with stylus support. Samsung’s built a number of applications for the pen including a memo application that allows for personal notes with drawings, image captures, and more.

Inside, the Samsung Galaxy Note sports an upgraded Samsung 1.4 GHz dual-core processor on top of one gigabyte of RAM. The backside shows off a nice 8-megapixel shooter with auto-focus, LED flash, and 1080p capture capabilities. Of course, the front’s packing a 2-megapixel camera, too. The battery behind the Samsung Galaxy Note is a 2500 mAh battery.

Carrier availability remained unannounced, but HSPA+ support was confirmed. Still, we’re noticing a little blip (at the bottom) that labels this device a 4G LTE phone on Samsung’s infographic. Check it out below.

Samsung Galaxy S II Review, Price and Specifications – Review from Hothardware.com. Samsung’s Galaxy S II was first introduced to the world at Mobile World Congress 2011, and despite the fact that quite a few smartphones have shipped in the months between then and now, Samsung’s top-tier smartphone remains a favorite across the globe. In fact, it hasn’t even shipped to America yet. With a potent dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of internal storage, a full gigabyte of RAM and the latest version of Android (2.3 aka Gingerbread), it stands as a powerhouse to compete with other top tier handsets.

There aren’t any gimmicks here. No 3D. No qHD display, and no extra fancy design construction. What is here, however, is a powerful smartphone with a shockingly slim body, a lightweight design, true 1080p out via the micro-USB port and a subtle Android overlay (TouchWiz 4.0). And the 4.3″ Super AMOLED Plus, while WVGA, is the display to beat in terms of image quality. What’s interesting is how the Galaxy S II stands out in a sea of rivals. There’s never been more competition in the Android smartphone universe, and it really takes a lot to cut through at this point.

In addition to Android 2.3, Samsung Galaxy S II includes the latest version of its TouchWiz user interface. It’s a subtle overlay that isn’t nearly as intrusive as Motorola’s BLUR or HTC’s Sense, and fans of stock Android will likely be pleased at the minor changes that are implemented.

Make no mistake: this phone is a high-end device aimed at those willing to pay top dollar for the best in performance. As of now, this phone isn’t even offered by a U.S. carrier or retailer. The only way to acquire one is to have it imported; the Latin American build (i9100) supports AT&T’s 3G bands, and that’s the one to grab if you want to snag one right now in unlocked form. There’s a build out there for T-Mobile bands as well; you just need to take caution to purchase the one with the frequency bands that fit your carrier. NewEgg and Negri Electronics both offer the phone, but at upwards of $650, it’s an investment you should think long and hard about. That said, the unlocked phone will likely have a few design cues that’ll set it apart from subsidized versions that should come to U.S. carriers within the month.

HTC ChaCha is an Android-powered phone featuring a full QWERTY keyboard and deep Facebook integration, including a dedicated Facebook button.

With a candy-bar form factor, the phone primarily features a 2.6-inch screen and a four-row QWERTY keyboard. Dedicated “call” and “end” buttons make a comeback on this phone too, something we haven’t seen in a while. On the left of the phone is a volume rocker and a USB post, while the right features, nothing! No really, the right side of the phone is all smooth; space that could and should have been used for a dedicated camera button. The top features the power button and the 3.5mm headphone port.

Coming back to the screen, it features a landscape orientation with a resolution of 480×320. If you’ve been using a full-touch screen phone prior to this, you will definitely notice the lack of screen real estate. As a result, you’ll find yourself scrolling a lot more. Of course this isn’t a flaw of the device, and rather the feature, or the design.

By design it has reduced the size of the screen to fit the keyboard. They keys are shaped like pebbles and don’t take long to get used to. That being said, I did find myself looking at the keyboard and typing rather than looking at the screen. If I didn’t, mistakes were made and lives were lost. OK so the former is a lot truer than the latter. The keyboard is great, but it is not the best.

The HTC ChaCha features a modest specification sheet; it isn’t trying to be a powerhorse of the a phone. That being said, everything seems to work smoothly on ChaCha without any hiccups. Even high-quality YouTube videos worked perfectly.

The camera on this is a 5-megapixel shooter on the rear with a 0.5-megapixel or VGA on the front. Not going to turn any heads, the camera quite simply gets the job done. You won’t find it replacing your actual camera but it serves pretty well for a quick snap.

The ChaCha is powered by Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) featuring its add-on layer of HTC Sense. It’s actually an excellent and necessary add on as it re-formats the layout for the smaller screen size, making the phone much more usable than it would have without it.

Probably the most important defining feature of the ChaCha is the Facebook integration. Featuring custom applications for just about all of Facebook’s features, including Chat, the ChaCha does deliver what it promises.

A quick press of the Facebook key brings up the application to send in a status update or post a picture. A longer press of the button brings up venues and lets you check in. The dedicated Facebook Chat application works extremely well too.

Those whose social lives overlap with the social network will find few devices better than this. The great keyboard, touch screen and latest Android-powered make the ChaCha a great device. At its price, HTC ChaCha is an excellent phone with near-perfect Facebook integration that will be its central selling point.

AT&T’ers, today’s your lucky day. Another solid Android device is coming your way as Google and Best Buy deliver an unlocked on-contract-priced Nexus S with AT&T 3G bands. On July 24th, customers will be able to grab a Nexus S at any Best Buy stores for only $99.99 with a two-year contract.

Sprint recently released their Nexus S 4G device with WiMAX capabilities, but AT&T’s new Nexus does not have HSPA+ 4G built-in. Still, if you’re looking for a bone-stock Android device and you’re sporting Ma Bell, the Nexus S is the way to go.

With Ice Cream Sandwich supposedly around the corner, the Nexus S might be the best way to ensure you’ll be the first to hands-on Android 4.0 (or whatever it’s called). So, anyone planning on a Nexus S pick-up for AT&T?

BriefMobile first heard about the Motorola Photon 4G way back in May. Now, it seems that Sprint and Motorola are ready to launch this Tegra 2 monster. In terms of specifications, this device sounds a lot like Motorola’s Atrix 4G. They’re looking at a 1 GHz Tegra 2 chip with 1 GB of memory inside. The Photon runs the Atrix-like Webtop dock that allows users to boot into a Linux installation. From there, users can click into a full Firefox 4 installation.

Of course, there are differences with the Atrix. Sprint’s Photon has a 4.3-inch display, albeit still qHD resolution. The back camera’s an upgraded eight-megapixel shooter, instead of the Atrix’s five. Plus, this device sports Android 2.3 Gingerbread from the get-go.

Sprint and Motorola are looking to launch the Photon 4G for $199.99 with two-year contract on July 31st. But, if you’re a Premier customer, you can get hooked up with a Photon as early as July 28th.
