LG, with GW990, scoring another record. After being listed as the first handset to be equipped with x86 architecture, it will be also the first to be eligible for the new operating system Meego, a hybrid between Moblin and Maemo carried out jointly by Nokia and Intel officially presented during the Mobile World Congress Barcelona.

The GW990 is based on Intel’s Moorestown platform and follows quite closely the appearance of the first concept presented in 2008 by the chipmaker same during the IDF. The operating system takes over from Meego Moblin, open source OS based on Linux and developed by Intel that initially was to be the engine of the LG.

Still too little is known sull’LG GW990 and the news that will mount the new OS Nokia / Intel confirms that it will take some time before we see it on the market. We know only that the launch could take place in Korea during the second half of 2010 but do not have a precise date nor do we know the date of arrival in the continent.
