We’ve been hearing rumors of a Zune phone for years now. Most of them have been unrealistic, unsubstantiated, or both. However, All things Digital is now reporting that Microsoft has restarted their formerly defunct “Project Pink”. They announced this resumption of development in a note to their clients this week.
Analysts are now certain that Microsoft is getting ready to push out a Windows Mobile 7. Some have even suggested a February 15-18 (Mobile World Congress) launch date, or a March release at the CTIA conference.
Project Pink is said to be a “Zune-like” phone, and is the product of a partnership similar to the one between Google and HTC. Microsoft picked out the hardware and designed the software, but someone else produced the phone. The Zune phone is expected to rock a 5 MP camera and support 720p HD video. It will also have access to music and video subscription services.
